In Our Community
Beirut in Portland is proud to be involved with Cascade AIDS Project. CAP's mission is to support and empower all people with or affected by HIV, reduce stigma, and provide the LGBTQ+ community with compassionate healthcare. Visit CAP's website at to learn more!
Beirut in Portland will donate %20 percent of all performance profits to CAP, and we will also have donation booths set up at each show. We will also hold informational talk-backs after selected performances, and discuss stigma, education and prevention.
Changing the conversation
We will be conducting intimate video interviews with people in our community whose lives have been affected by systematic oppression, societal fear, and stigmas, which we will release virally. We are talking to the people that are on the front lines for demise if our leaders continue to cut research funding, pollute our planet, waste our resources, and ignore the violence that continues to prevail in our society. We will share and release these interviews virally via Facebook and through our website. The focus of these interviews will be to highlight how prejudice and fear runs rampant in those who fall outside of the societal “norm”, even in a city that prides itself on its liberalism and inclusive ideals. The final portion of these interviews will focus on these individual’s specific experiences with ways in which love and/ or kindness has changed their experiences and perceptions of themselves.
We will be holding viral talkbacks on our website and FB page. Stay tuned!
Select performances of Beirut will be "Pay what you can" and we will also offer a sliding scale for ticket prices.
Beirut in Portland will also be accepting Oregon Trail Cards through the "Arts for All" program from RACC.
